Watchmen Storyline

A crime/conspiracy story based on the influential comic by Alan Moore. Watchmen focuses on the every day life of out of work superheroes. Costumed superheroism has been outlawed, and most groups have been abandoned. But as a new threat presents itself, the paranoid masked detective/vigilante Rorschach uncovers a conspiracy to destroy all masked heroes.

Watchmen goofs

CONT: In Dan Dreiberg's underground laboratory, Rorschach rather pointedly drags his finger through a thick coat of dust over a cover on his work bench to indicate its lack of use. Later when Laurie Jupiter pulls the dust cover off of "Archemedes" (Nite Owl's flying vehicle), there is no cloud of dust.
CHAR: In the original comic, before leaving for Mars Dr. Manhattan went back to his military base, told a soldier he was headed to Mars, and left. In the last panel of this scene, the soldier says "Sergeant, I got a message for you..." In the film, Manhattan just heads to Mars without telling anyone, yet all the characters in the film seem to know that that's where he is.
FAIR: After Rorschach is arrested, the newscast identifies him as Walter Kovacs, 35 years old. As the movie is set in 1985, this would mean he was born in 1950. However, earlier in the movie, he is shown in a scene as a boy (around 10 years old) with a man reading a newspaper with a headline discussing the Russians acquiring the atomic bomb, which occurred in 1949. However, since the movie takes place in an alternate history, this could simply indicate that the development of the A-Bomb occurred later.
SYNC: When Veidt drops the bullet he captured in his hand, it makes the distinctive sound of an empty shell casing hitting the floor and not the heavy clicking of an actual bullet being dropped.
FAKE: In the scene in which Dr. Manhattan is dressing himself, as he turns his head at the end, his CGI neck can be seen going through the collar of his shirt.

Watchmen plot

A group of heroes, forced into retirement a decade before are called together once again to investigate the murder of one of their own. What they discover an age-old conspiracy to change the balance of power in a world not different from our own.
